Why isnt kyla ross competing
If we're lucky, and if Ross is feeling confident enough, we might see her try and pull it off in London in August. You can watch Ross perform this vault in a practice session here: Gymnastike.
According to NBCOlympics. By personal hardships, Ross is likely referring to Miller's battle with ovarian cancer back in It's a battle Miller won, though, just like all the Olympic gold medals she won in the s. If Ross continues to look up to and admire women like Miller, she'll always come out ahead in the sport of gymnastics and in her walk of life. Kyla Ross is a fighter. She has an indomitable will to win, and she doesn't allow herself any room for excess emotions.
According to the AP , when the five young women who were chosen to go to London found out that they were the ones selected, everyone started shedding tears Her father, Jason Ross, who is a former minor league baseball player, talked about this side of her, saying:. She just always wants to win. Ross isn't going to let herself or her teammates get swept away by emotions in London, and even though she's the youngest member of the team, her poise and determination may be the key to America bringing home the gold in the team competition.

Thanks for the recap and insight into her career. I posted she ought to have gone to college this past fall. She has been looking like Gulliver on that line up at camp for too long.
People seem to prefer their heroines be cripples rather than admit big is not beautiful in gym. Like Liked by 3 people. Like Liked by 2 people. That is the most ignorant comment ever. Excuse them for not being able to handle their growth. What a beautiful tribute for a beautiful gymnast. I have loved Kyla Ross since the moment she hit the elite scene. Her consistency throughout her career was beyond belief. It was heartbreaking to see her struggle in I looked forward to see her fight for a Rio spot.
However, she seems at peace with her decision. God bless you, Kyla. Thank you for the great memories from your elite years. The sport are USA gymnastics are better because you were in it. Great article. Thanks Lauren. Retiring from elite is a wise decision. Good for her! This was ridiculously beautiful Lauren. I may or may not be in tears right now. Kyla is not only an amazing gymnast but an amazing person—classy, humble, grounded, and just seems super sweet and genuine.
I hope she can relax and enjoy herself before heading off to college. I really admire her maturity in stepping back, looking at the big picture, realizing her honest Rio chances, and bowing out gracefully instead of nearly killing herself trying to make the team. Guess who was the last person to beat simone at an international competition?!
Exactly… theres only one person that hold that bragging right… best of luck to her!! Amazing tribute to Kyla!
I started really following gymnastics in which at that point meant following the US trials process and Kyla was the one who really stood out to me. She was the youngest closest in age to me and I loved her clean and precise gymnastics. The only thing I wish is that she had hit that beautiful unique routine she debuted last season just once!
So glad we get to continue watching her in NCAA! Best of luck Kyla! Wonderful tribute to a beautiful athlete and an inspiration to young gymnasts worldwide. Sums up the sadness of missing her in competition but so happy that she chose to keep her eligibility for college and have fun!
I think she will absolutely thrive in college gymnastics. Thank you so much for such a beautiful article. Kyla was always one of my favorites and probably the first junior I actually followed, way back in I must admit this text made me a little emotional. You are commenting using your WordPress.
