Does anyone else hate the jubilee

If Sharpe would be unimpressed with him acting that way in real life, it's authentic — not gasp-worthy — of her to do so on the show, as well. Internally, I'm sure all the other girls felt the same way. Sharpe was just the only one who was honest about it. And that, I think, is what it comes down to between Sharpe and the other girls. She's very honest about what's going on and how she's feeling, and in a competition where mind games and manipulation seem to be front and center, it's not making her very popular.

Is that a popularity game you'd really want to win, though? November See All Trying Birth After. Raising Kids. For years, we've been forced to interpret what the Jordan 11 meant and what it represented through our own imaginations. Now, that onus is no longer there. My thought is that Tinker Hatfield, a man much wiser and far more talented than me, left the Jordan script off for a reason. Yes, I am aware it once was a part of his vision for the shoe, but in the end, it was left on the drawing table.

Because of how much I love the design of the Air Jordan 11, I've looked back and tried to reconcile my feelings for the change. Each time, despite those efforts, I come to the same conclusion: It shouldn't be there. Maybe if it was a part of the original design that was released, I wouldn't have the same attachment to the logoless blank slate.

Maybe I wouldn't have the same attachment to the sneaker as a whole. Maybe I would have found another playground for my imagination and manifested my feelings for Mike in something else.

But since we can't go back in history and change things, I have to make the best of the present and find a way to escape my own bias. A bias that has me looking at multiple versions of the Air Jordan 11 in a storage unit that I visit once a month. All pairs that I may have worn once, maybe. Or a bias that has me still wanting to get another pair of the black and red 11s, because, apparently, two isn't enough.

That colorway might not even be enough. Because, let's be honest, even though I love and hate the way Jordan Brand is celebrating the year anniversary of the sneaker, I'll still be trying to grab a pair when they release in December, like everyone else.

As for fireworks, I'm not crazy about her being another "teen vamp" character but if that's what keeps her popular, fine. I'm not sure she should go back to the fireworks anyway, seeing as it's a little too on-the-nose for the Chinese-American x-man to get "fireworks" as a superpower. But maybe plasma-based powers with a new twist could be cool.

Honestly, I'm just happy to get more Jubilee, and that she's back to being the up-beat, anti-sulk member of the team. Loving Shogo too. By the time I understood the character dynamics of both eras, and saw how Jubilee was in some ways taking the role that had been Kitty's as Wolverine's protege and the point-of-view, youngest member of the team , I had decided that I thought Kitty was way cooler and disliked Jubilee by comparison.

That said, between the few years from when I started to when X-men Classic ended, mid '95 or so, Jubilee's character had gone through a lot of growth and had started to be more than the stereotype of the character that had been propagated through X-Men: The Animated Series , culminating in her role in Generation X where she would go on to see even greater character development in a role that was more truly her own.

By that point, there just didn't seem to be any real basis of comparison between her and any other character and that's when I started to really appreciate her on her own merits. While I haven't been a fan of every story she's been in, her character has been through a lot, from the murder of her parents, surviving on the streets, being a captive of Genosha and of Bastion, seeing her classmates killed by humans, losing her powers in the decimation -she's like a tragic X-kids' greatest hits.

I know some fans aren't fans of her losing her powers or becoming a vampire, but I was never a fan of her because of her powers to begin with, so I actually like her vampire powers better; it gives her another aspect that makes her distinct among the X-men.

And more importantly, both of those things had an effect on the development of her character, which I do like. Honestly, after all this time, she's one of the X-men that now interests me most because of how she's changed. Please Log In to post. This edit will also create new pages on Comic Vine for:.
