Later, in college, he found he could make more money playing country in Texas dance halls. Eventually he got fired from his job and gave up his art education to to tour with country acts. There he was educated by a different professor — the road. He honed his skills as a guitarist, bassist, and keyboardist in front of screaming fans of…well…whoever the act he was opening for.

It was a tough road but you get a lot of time off, so the Texas beaches became his second home. She soon became his wife and he left the road to become a family man, running Cowpatty Studios and working with several local bands as a hired gun. Not a stable job, but having time to spend raising kids has made him a different man. Songwriting quickly became the pastime of choice. The result is years of collecting material — everything from raw country to rock and blues to islandy tunes.

And what about those islandy tunes? All the other material had been shopped around with various bands with little success but not the islandy stuff. With a small nudge otherwise known as a giant shove from his wife now of 21 years , he finally dusted off that notebook, wrote some newly inspired tracks, and compiled them into two albums. All you need is a computer, a couple guitars, and a good mic.

But we are both music fanatics and have discovered this whole other world out there of incredible musicians over the years. Not just in Texas, but all over. And these last few years in our travels we have discovered this whole world of music called Trop Rock, which is like Jimmy Buffett's music.

It's not really rock at all, it's tropical influenced singer songwriter type stuff. We love it. Our new album Shotgun has several songs that are solidly in that genre but it also has a mix of country and Americana too. A friend of ours said his daughter wanted to raise money for the local animal shelter in Marble Falls, TX where we do out annual Lone Star Luau music event.

He said, "what if you write a song about animal rescue? Our producer Robert Wright just knocked that track right out of the park. It's about a pet finding it's forever home, but I think it can also be about someone finding their soulmate. That was the first song we recorded for the project with Robert, and after we heard what he did with Forever Home we knew we had to have him produce the album.

We love what we do but it's not always easy - traveling full time is hard work. We do everything ourselves in house - booking, social media, all that - it's definitely a full time job so that we can have those couple of magical hours onstage sharing our stories and touching people's lives with our music.
